"In 2001 townsfolk celebrated the 750th charter anniversary and welcomed HRH Princess Anne to Higham Ferrers.

Following a tour of the Church, Bede House and Chantry Chapel the Princess said she did not realise the town had such a wonderful collection of ancient buildings behind the Market Square which were easily on a par with a cathedral precinct."
